Communication and community Internships

Duration: Minimum 3 months
EU DisinfoLab is seeking Communication and community Interns for 2026 to support our outreach efforts and help strengthen our growing network. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in strategic communications, community building, and content creation – while contributing to one of the most pressing challenges facing democracy and information integrity today.
The internship is based in Brussels and is not available remotely. The selected candidates will work under the direct supervision of our Community and Communications Manager and in close collaboration with our Community Coordinator.
Tasks and skills
- Draft and send out the Disinfo Update newsletter, including sourcing content, writing blurbs, and preparing the newsletter for mailing and publishing
- Support with webinars and webinar communications: set-up, promotion, logistics, and post-event content
- Draft and post social media posts and mailings
- Update our website with new content, resources, and event details
- Assist with our annual conference: content, communications, and logistics (depending on the timing of the internship)
- Proofread and edit materials
- Conduct media monitoring
- Contribute to other communications and community tasks as needed
Additional missions
- Support our EU project work
- Assist with research efforts on disinformation and information manipulation
- Contribute to our policy and advocacy work
This variety of tasks ensures a well-rounded experience that prepares interns for future careers in the field.
What you will learn
- How to research, curate and produce content for a newsletter
- The essentials of planning, promoting and running webinars
- Writing for different platforms: social media, email, and web
- Website content management and updating digital resources
- Event communications and coordination

Internship requirements
- Eligibility: We only accept interns who are currently enrolled in an academic curriculum. This ensures that the internship is an integral part of their educational development.
- University agreement: A signed internship convention with the student and their academic advisor is mandatory for all interns.
- Duration: The internship must be a minimum of 3 months.
- Compensation: As per Belgian law, EU DisinfoLab will not provide compensation for the internship.
- Location: Interns are required to be present at our Brussels office at least three days a week. Remote internships are not an option.
