EU DisinfoLab 2024 Annual Conference
9-10 October, Riga, Latvia
Thanks for joining #Disinfo2024 !
EU DisinfoLab annual conference took place on 9-10 October 2024, at the Radisson Blu Latvija Conference & Spa Hotel in Riga, Latvia, bringing our community together once again. The conference gathered leading specialists from diverse backgrounds, exploring the pressing challenges in the realm of disinformation.
For two days, the conference explored the pressing issues of disinformation such as the impact of Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI) on elections, the new paradigms of generative AI, cybersecurity, and the role of communities and partnerships. We also discussed global perspectives, and the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. We were happy to have on board many esteemed speakers, including Nighat Dad, Imran Ahmed, Marie-Doha Besancenot, and Paula Gori, and representatives from Meta, the World Health Organization (WHO), Graphika, EU Commission, and Stanford University, among many others.

What our attendees say
EU DisinfoLab's Annual Conference has established itself as the premier forum for those dedicated to protecting democratic discourse, and CheckFirst has been privileged to participate consistently. Through EU DisinfoLab team's support, we've regularly showcased our work in combating disinformation and influence operations, whilst forging partnerships across research, journalism, policy sectors and civil society. [...] If limited to one conference annually, EU DisinfoLab's would be our unequivocal choice, as it represents the intersection of expertise, innovation and shared commitment to fact-based public discourse. — Amaury L., CTO & Co-Founder of Check First
Participating in last year’s EU DisinfoLab Annual Conference was an incredibly meaningful experience. Opening the conference with a panel discussion allowed me to engage with experts and advocates dedicated to tackling disinformation—an issue that deeply impacts societies worldwide. The screening of For Sama provided a powerful moment to reflect on the real-world consequences of misinformation and media narratives in conflict zones. What stood out most was the conference’s commitment to fostering open, critical discussions on disinformation’s evolving challenges. The depth of expertise and the diversity of perspectives made it a truly impactful space for collaboration and learning. I left feeling inspired by the collective effort to confront disinformation and ensure accountability in storytelling. I highly value the work of EU DisinfoLab and look forward to continued conversations on these critical issues — Hamza Al-Kateab, co-founder and CEO of Action for Sama
