What happens when online disinformation, hate speech, and political rage spill into the streets? In this presentation, Kamila Koronska from the University of Amsterdam explores how coordinated messaging on X and Facebook helped ignite the 2024 UK riots.
Using a newly developed tool – CooRTweet – alongside network analysis, a team of researchers uncovered how problematic accounts manipulated public emotion and fueled unrest.

Kamila Koronska, Research Officer in the Study of Misinformation, University of Amsterdam
Kamila works as a Research Officer in the study of misinformation at the University of Amsterdam. She helps organise and run co-creation activities within the Digital Methods Initiative, one of Europe’s leading Internet Studies research groups. She also works as a freelance journalist and has been affiliated with BBC News for the past two years.

Inès Gentil is a Project Officer at EU DisinfoLab, where she contributes to the implementation of three EU-funded projects: ATHENA, vera.ai, and EDMO BELUX 2.0. She holds a double Master’s degree in Policies and Governance in Europe from King’s College London and LUISS, with a specialisation in European external relations. Before joining EU DisinfoLab, she worked at a London-based consultancy specialising in EU and UK public affairs, and has prior experience in the fields of defence, security, and public diplomacy.
