The EDMO BELUX 3.0 project aims to:
- Uncover disinformation and foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI)
- Point to trustworthy sources of information
- Help develop diverse multimedia offerings
- Strengthen inclusive citizen-minded attitudes
- Keep political, foreign and tech actors accountable for their actions
The project continues five years of successful work carried out in EDMO BELUX I and II. In this third phase, EDMO BELUX 3.0 pays more attention to elections and crisis situations, and to helping communities and citizens deal with disinformation. It does so by reinforcing the EDMO network, researching societal resilience to disinformation, monitoring platform compliance with the Digital Services Act, fact-checking in French, Luxembourgish and German, and running media literacy initiatives and communication campaigns in local languages. The consortium brings together fact-checkers, disinformation analysts and media literacy organisations to monitor and mitigate disinformation and FIMI in Belgium and Luxembourg, helping to raise situational awareness, strengthen societal resilience and protect the integrity of the online information space.
The European Digital Media Observatory for Belgium and Luxembourg (EDMO BELUX) is a multidisciplinary hub for research on digital media and disinformation in Belgium and Luxembourg.
