Climate change is real, but so is the growing effort to distort the conversation around it.

HEAT is an investigative project by Logically and EU DisinfoLab that explores how climate-related disinformation, misinformation, and malinformation (MDM) are being deployed in Germany, the Netherlands, and France. These aren’t accidental misunderstandings, they are deliberate strategies designed to confuse the public, delay action, and protect powerful interests.

This investigation goes beyond identifying falsehoods. HEAT exposes:

  • The narratives that undermine climate action, and how they evolve over time.
  • The networks of influence: from political actors and media figures to corporations and foreign states.
  • The tools of amplification: coordinated campaigns, media manipulation, and digital deception.
  • The local dynamics shaping how disinformation takes root in different national and cultural contexts.

Today’s climate disinformation is more subtle than denial, it’s strategic doubt, pragmatism as delay, and economic fear used as a smokescreen. It plays on people’s real concerns to quietly stall climate progress. HEAT is tracking how these narratives spread, who benefits from them, and what’s really at stake.
