The following Media Accreditation Policy outlines the process for media representatives seeking to cover the EU DisinfoLab annual conference, #Disinfo2025. By requesting for media accreditation, you agree to comply with the guidelines below.
Eligibility criteria
Who can apply?
- Accredited journalists representing print, broadcast, or digital media outlets.
- Freelance journalists with valid, documented assignments from recognised media organisations.
- Photojournalists, camera crews, and technical staff operating on behalf of recognised media outlets.
Required credentials
- A valid press card or formal documentation from a recognised professional body (e.g. national press association).
AND - A letter of assignment or an official email from an editor confirming your reporting assignment on behalf of a media outlet.
Application process
- The accreditation application period opens approximately six weeks prior to the conference.
- All applications must be submitted at least two weeks before the start of the conference to be considered.
- Applications should be sent by email to conference[at]disinfo.eu
- Submitted credentials will be reviewed by the EU DisinfoLab Conference Team.
- Additional verification may be requested.
Confirmation or rejection
Successful applicants will receive a confirmation email with further registration instructions. We will notify you if your application is rejected.
Onsite conduct & guidelines
Compliance with venue regulations:
All accredited media must follow venue safety rules, security checks, and staff instructions.
Filming & photography:
Filming or photography is allowed in general conference spaces, except where explicitly restricted. Presenters, panellists, or attendees may request not to be photographed or filmed – please respect their choice.
Coloured lanyards:
All participants wear a badge that includes their first name, last name, and professional background/organisation. Participants can choose to have a red or blue lanyard. Red lanyards indicate that a participant does not want to be photographed or filmed.
Interview requests:
You may conduct interviews with speakers, panellists, or other participants. It is your responsibility to obtain permission from interviewees to be quoted and respect both attribution as well as anonymity requests.
Copyright & usage:
All conference materials shared with accredited media (e.g. press releases, images , quotes) may be used for editorial coverage only. All images and quotes should be credited.
Revocation of accreditation
EU DisinfoLab reserves the right to revoke media accreditation if an individual who
- provides false information in their application;
- violates conference policies or venue regulations; or
- compromises the safety or integrity of attendees or participants.
Liability
EU DisinfoLab and the venue are not liable for personal items, equipment, or any personal injury to media representatives.
Privacy & data protection
Personal data collected during accreditation will be processed for the purpose of managing event access and communication on relevant future events. EU DisinfoLab will handle such data in compliance with all applicable data protection regulations (e.g. GDPR).
